The opening of Noida Greenfield International Airport, also known as Jewar International Airport, has been eagerly anticipated by residents of Noida and the surrounding areas. All of these folks now have some good news as officials have verified that the airport’s runway will be completed by the end of this year.
According to TOI, which cited officials at YIAPL, the construction of the terminal building, the air traffic control (ATC) tower, and other structures is anticipated to be finished by December. Zurich AG subsidiary Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, also known as YIAPL, is in charge of the project’s development.
The terminal building’s ground level is currently taking shape. According to Christoph Schnellmann, CEO of YIAPL, “Once these are ready, the facilities will be handed over to the Airports Authority of India, which will install radars and other equipment.”
When will the flights start?
He also stated that flights will begin running by the middle of next year, with commercial operations anticipated to commence by the end of 2024. He stated that the airport will initially solely provide domestic airline services.
The first phase of the Noida Greenfield International Airport is presently ongoing, and construction is proceeding as planned. On-site, there are around 2,600 people and 400 pieces of machinery. The airport’s first phase is being developed across 1,334 hectares.

In addition to the runway, terminal building, and ATC tower, other structures such as office buildings, sewage and water treatment plants, and electrical substations are being built. The airport will be built in stages over the course of 40 years. It will carry 12 million people per year.
The second phase will begin when the airport achieves 80% of its capacity, while the third phase will begin when the airport reaches 80% of its annual capacity of 30 million passengers.
